See that picture below? It's from the 1937 Great Flint General Motors United Auto Workers UAW Sit-down Strike. Photo was taken inside the old Fisher Body Plant 1. If you look closely, you'll see a calendar painted or drawn on the side of what looks like a car door. The calendar shows the x's making off the days till victory. A first UAW GM contract agreement. First of its kind. This photo was taken on day 44, February 11, 1937. Today's UAW members - workers wear a white shirt yearly on February 11th celebrated as White Shirt Day, in commeration of this pivotal moment in U.S. & International labor history back in 1937. Sitdowner Ralph Lockhart is in the top left corner, to the right of a man with a hat. Ralph has his hand raised in victory. He and his wife (Mildred Lockhart, who was a member of the Women's Emergency Brigade, she worked in the cut-and sew dept.) are in their Nineties now (2006). They still actively support the U.A.W. the labor union they took a stand for & helped create back in 1936-37. They are proud of the UAW.
This page is dedicated to Ralph & Mildred Lockhart & all the future Web 2.0 Alexander Graham Bells, Thomas Alva Edisons, Walter Reuthers, Marshall McLuhans, Bill Gates, Steve Wozniaks & Tim Berners-Lees (and all the other famous high-tech names, I'll add more later when they come to my mind, hey I'm in my Fifties!) out there in cyberspace. If you are thinking about, are currently, or presently deciding on what is going on in the present & future web-wise, and want to pick a career, learn about a new one, are an entrepreneur, small or large business owner, student, whatever, maybe just a web surfer, check out some of these links. This is by no means a great list. I am just a UAW retiree publishing on the web.
I know this seems out of place here, but I always forget the website for the State of Michigan Lottery Numbers Drawing, which helps fund education in our great state! If I played the lottery, now I can check the numbers. American Greetings Free online Greeting Cards Blue Mountain Free e-cards
